FRIDAYS 14.30 - 17.30

DATA: April 25th - May 16th, 2025

Philosophy and theology both explore the most fundamental questions: the nature of existence, the possibility of a supreme being, and what gives life meaning. Through readings ranging from the Bible and Augustine’s Confessions to Kant and Kierkegaard, you will reflect on the relationship between faith and reason, and consider whether a clear line truly separates philosophy from theology.

In this third module, you will focus on texts from Kant and Kierkegaard. Can human beings discover morality and meaning on their own, or do we need something greater than human to teach us the way?

April 25th: Immanuel Kant, Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, Chapters 1-2.

May 2nd: Immanuel Kant, Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, Chapters 2-3.

May 9th: Søren Kierkegaard, Philosophical Fragments, I-III.

May 16th: Søren Kierkegaard, Philosophical Fragments, IV-V.
